United Human Federation

Human society is a plutocratic late-stage capitalist dystopia society, and is nominally ruled by the United Human Federation government on the Earth's moon, Luna. This federal government is comprised of representatives from the administrations of planets, moons, and stations, or represent large entities such as the mega-corps. Notably, there are little-to-no elected representatives and all members of government are kept strictly in-line by internal affairs personnel. The federal government passes laws and organizes taxes and spending, but it is the mega-corps that run day-to-day life for most of humanity through their incredibly strong influence on society. Humanity works, spends, and abides by the will of the mega-corps who own everything they interact with. Above even the UHF are the Gaians, the ultra-wealthy who own estates on earth. These people are often, but not always, the owners or main shareholders of the mega-corps. No one else could afford even a small manor on Earth, and the original Gaians own estates the size of small nations such as Belguim. The Gaians dictate their needs to the UHF on occasion, and approve or deny the laws that the UHF want to adopt. This power system, and all within it who enjoy unprecedented opulence and power, are terrified by the Machina.

Machina were initially discovered in Stellar year 246 when they arrived at the moons of Titania and Oberon in the Uranus system. As footage and reports made it to Earth of the Machina, it threatened the entire system of power that the Gaians and their underlings in the federal government and mega-corps relied on, which prompted the Gaians to seek preventive and jingoist measures against the Machina. Humanity was directed by the rulers on Earth to wage war against the Machina, firstly by throwing the United Operations Forces personnel into combat against the Machina, and then later passing the R.E.P.A.I.R. Bill. The bill passed through the human government unanimously in the Stellar Year 250. In addition to the authorization of the new military arm and its funding, the R.E.P.A.I.R. Bill contained numerous new laws authorizing REPAIR personnel to conscript any human with an acceptable affinity for their RM Nanomachines and augmentation procedures.

Currently, both the regular military and REPAIR are fighting the Machina on the orders of the Gaians. The overall command of the military is known as the United Operations Forces, and their two departments are the United Operations Army and the United Operations Navy. REPAIR act as a special forces organization, deploying to strike special targets to assist the overall war effort, but not necessarily fighting alongside the common human soldiers. REPAIR is generally authorized to operate above many human laws, and reports only to the Commander-in-Chief of the United Operations Forces. For the most part, REPAIR operates outside of the public eye with a few unique personnel who operate as PR for the organization. Opinions are mixed within the general populace and even within the UOF itself, with many humans being suspicious of the cyborg women. The Gaians are willing to provide all the funding and propaganda needed to support REPAIR as they combat the Machina, as they see the Machina as an existential threat to their power.
