The Machinium can be made into ingots for storage or trade, or it can be woven into base components using fingertip or tentacle-based extruders for use by Breeder-class Fabricator-type Machina. They are a counterpart to the Category 3 Breeder-class Fabricator-type and almost always work together with them as a result.
