REPAIR, formally known as the Revolutionary Enhancement Program: Augmentation for Immediate Response, is a small branch of the United Operations Forces specializing in combating Machina. They are mainly comprised of augmented researchers carrying out highly-classified anti-Machina research, and Agents who perform fast, decisive strikes against the Machina. These individuals all possess some compatibility with RM Nanomachines. This compatibility decides to what extent they can be augmented and what role they may perform in REPAIR.

REPAIR Personnel

REPAIR personnel are mainly female due to the necessities involved with the REPAIR Multipurpose (RM) Nanomachines that are used to resist Machina infection. Potential conscripts are scouted using mandatory population-wide testing for RM compatibility. Due to the necessity of the RM Nanomachines for protection of personnel from M2 Nanomachines, RM compatibility heavily influences the prospects of a conscript's service. Once conscripted and properly indoctrinated, REPAIR personnel are assigned their positions and tasks within REPAIR's hierarchy according to the areas of service they are most likely to excel at. Because of this, REPAIR conscripts women with RM potential and requisitions research from established scientists if needed. When a member of REPAIR is assigned a new position they are augmented in accordance with the needs of the new position, becoming more augmented as they advance. Again, this has the effect of creating the personnel they need rather than having to look for members of the population with the skills they need. From the position they are assigned to, the member's Rank is established.

All REPAIR personnel receive basic weapons training and are proficient shooters with at least the basic REPAIR Weapons. This means, in theory, that REPAIR research personnel can address containment breaches or defend themselves from targeted attacks if they are found, but it is sometimes difficult for non-combat REPAIR personnel to practice marksmanship or keep their combat software updated and compatible with their bodies.

REPAIR Ranks

Rank C

Rank C personnel consist of junior researchers and Agents-in-training.

REPAIR researchers are expected to perform research that may expose them to infection from M2 Nanomachines. Because of this, Rank C personnel are regularly given doses of RM Nanomachines, which will prevent infection from M2 Nanomachines to a certain extent as the RM Nanomachines find and attempt to mutually destroy M2 Nanomachines within the body. Due to their importance, these researchers are augmented with extensive cybernetics to assist with mental processing, networking, and physical coordination for critical work.

Rank C is sometimes assigned to Agents who are undergoing cybernetic augmentation gradually, perhaps due to low compatibility necessitating acclimation. These Agents may be deployed into non-combat roles in areas of conflict. As with senior researchers, they are given RM doses to prevent corruption from M2 Nanomachines to some extent, but as they are still in the process of being augmented it is often not possible to inoculate these Agents further. In-training Agents are not uniformly augmented. Rather, they are augmented with whatever their bodies can withstand at the present time as they are built-up into proper Agents.

Cybernetics comprise up to 25% of a Rank C member's body as a result of the above. Due to requiring RM compatibility, all members of Rank C are female.

Rank B

Rank B personnel consist of senior researchers and Agents. Rank B marks the beginning of REPAIR personnel who produce RM Nanomachines within their own bodies, acting as the source of RM Nanomachines for other, lesser members of REPAIR.

Senior researchers are expected to lead many junior researchers, often mentally assisting with their duties, and are expected to be exposed to hazardous amounts of M2 Nanomachines. Their cybernetics are focused on achieving peak processing ability as well as survivability, since Rank B non-combatants are often VIPs among REPAIR staff.

Basic Agents belong to Rank B. Their bodies feature extensive cybernetics to improve physical power and durability, allowing for the Agents to combat a Machina one-on-one, or lift and fire one of the many necessarily-oversized anti-Machina weapons in the REPAIR arsenal. These Agents will be equipped with cybernetics such as dermal armour, redundant organs, replacement of limbs, reinforcement of existing bones, and many more.

Both senior researchers and Agents create RM Nanomachines within their bodies. Normally, this is done by bio-augmentation procedures that modify the Rank B member's reproductive organs, especially the ovaries. As a result of these procedures, half of all Rank B members are female, while the other half are futanari. Many REPAIR personnel, especially most Agents, become a futanari as they decide they need a penis to ejaculate their RM for various reasons, such as weakening a Machina or quickly inoculating a subordinate. To become a futanari, the REPAIR personnel can choose to simply grow a penis and let their ovaries handle RM production, or they may choose to have either bio-modification or cybernetic modification to gain both a penis and external testicles to increase RM output.

Cybernetics comprise between 25% and 50% of a Rank B member's body as a result of the above. As stated above, Rank B is comprised of approximately 50/50 females and futanari.

Rank A

Personnel with exceptionally high tolerance to RM Nanomachines can be promoted as far as Rank A. Members of this Rank are either extremely important executives of REPAIR operations, such as heads of entire programs or bases, or they are elite Agents. In either event, the body of a Rank A member is more than 50% cybernetic, and approximately 80% of all members are futanari. This lack of human parts weakens the ability of the body to regulate the RM inside it, causing Rank A personnel to require frequent diagnostics and maintenance of their bodies. A team of cybernetic technicians and doctors are needed wherever Rank A personnel are stationed to carry out these maintenance overhauls. Their bodies often produce so much RM that their breath contains clouds of RM Nanomachines. Due to this, it is very difficult for Rank A personnel to mingle with unprotected humans. When leaving bases, Rank A personnel often need to wear gas masks and almost always wear their standard-issue suits beneath any other clothing.

Another issue with Rank A personnel going out in public is that their minds are often permanently warped to some extent, due to the very high amounts of RM Nanomachines in their bodies. Rank A personnel experience decreased inhibitions, and high amounts of sexual exhibitionism and sometimes aggression. To the public, Rank A personnel would appear markedly perverted. As a result, it is much easier for Rank B personnel to deal with public affairs.

An important improvement to Rank A personnel is the ability to tolerate and use the cybernetics required to control the Marionette System. Inspired by the Machina, Rank A personnel, mainly Agents, utilize crude quantum entanglement communications to control remote bodies. These remote bodies are often cyborg clones of the Agent without an onboard brain, allowing the Agent to control them as extensions to their own bodies. The amount of Marionettes that a Rank A Agent can control varies greatly, based on the ability of the Agent's mind to withstand the mental strain.
