RM Nanomachines
REPAIR Multipurpose Nanomachines, or RM, are the nanomachines created by REPAIR to augment their personnel for combat against the Machina.
Immediately after the authorization of the R.E.P.A.I.R Bill, the effort to reverse-engineer M2 Nanomachines began. Headed by a brilliant scientist, who would later become a Rank A director, the essential principles of M2 Nanomachines were reverse-engineered and a similar, but 'locked-down' version was made, which we know now as RM.
RM Nanomachines are administered to new members of REPAIR as the core part of their augmentations. The RM Nanomachines primarily perform biological and physical enhancements on their hosts, as well as repairing damage. Their ability to learn is heavily locked-away in a 'safe-mode' which means in normal use within REPAIR there is no danger of runaway nanomachines. However, there are circumstances where RM can be a risk. Firstly, RM Nanomachines require a suitable human female environment. Males, and women who lack RM compatibility, do not possess the internal biochemistry and contextual cues to keep the RM operating safely. When given to such people, RM breaks out of their safe-mode and rapidly grows into M2 Nanomachines. Similar to this, as members of REPAIR advance in status and Rank, they replace more of their bodies with cybernetics. Rank A personnel are more than 50% cybernetic. This lack of human parts weakens the ability of the body to regulate the RM inside it, causing Rank A personnel to require frequent diagnostics and maintenance of their bodies. A team of cybernetic technicians and doctors are needed wherever Rank A personnel are stationed to carry out these maintenance overhauls.
A less talked-about hazard of the RM Nanomachines is that they have similar effects to M2 Nanomachines on the psyche of their hosts, giving them feelings of incredible power and amplifying their libido. This is compounded by the amount of cybernetics found in REPAIR personnel. If Agents are not careful, they may spread their RM to unsuitable humans, which may cause a runaway nanomachine hazard in the unsuitable population.
