When a Machina bonds with a Larva, that Larva becomes a permanent part of the Machina's body, including the nervous system. Larvae will provide the necessary calculations for operating a part of the Machina's body, such as the mass-reactor in her Core or operating a weapon system that is part of her equipment. The Larvae have a very simple mind, but can think for themselves. They send feelings of 'alert', 'calm', 'worry', etc, rather than talk to their host. Larvae will often assist their host in searching for and identifying others. Should the Larvae eyes on a Machina's body find a new person, they consult the Machina's subconscious knowledge to determine what defines a 'friend' and 'foe'. The Larvae will then send the feelings of 'alert' to the Machina's mind, as well as the knowledge of the person they have identified and where they are in relation to the Machina.
