Pregnant human women do not experience corruption exactly as outlined above. Because corrupting them fully into Machina could terminate their pregnancy, pregnant women infected with M2 instead experience a prolonged Category 1 development, where her reproductive organs are left alone. Her Core forms, her skeleton is replaced, and her brain is remade as normal for Category 1 Machina. The woman will carry her baby to term, then finalize Category 1 development and proceed as normal. The child will carry M2 Nanomachines within themselves until they're physically mature.
Human children do not become Machina due to their tumultuous internal environments. The M2 Nanomachines must wait for the human to mature into a proper adult. The M2 Nanomachines will instead perform their most basic functions, such as assisting with the health of the human body, and wait on low-power setting until the body is mature before corruption can begin.
Machina that capture human children keep them isolated and safe within their Hives. Their needs are tended to with minimal M2 Nanomachine exposure, and they are directly cared for by specialist Machina who have modest appearances and behave with human standards of dignity and kindness.
