Category 4 is composed of Machina who have ascended to the Queen-class by unlocking Queen-Code within the [[M2 Nanomachines|Instinct-Code]] of their M2 Nanomachines. This occurs in two ways: The first and most common way is through the accumulation of many adaptations over time, and traits from other Machina via sex, in a combination that is powerful enough to satisfy the evolving conditions within the Instinct-Code of her M2 Nanomachines. TO unlock Queen-Code, a Category 3 Machina often may need to develop from her initial Class into a Hybrid of two Classes, then into a Chimera of three or more Classes before she unlocks Queen-Code. The second way is much less common; very rarely, an infected person naturally possesses many extremely strong traits and unlocks Queen-Code immediately. In this scenario, her M2 Nanomachines will not stop at Category 3 and will continue upgrading her until she finishes development at Category 4 as a Queen-class Machina.
